El-Mahalla El-Kubra

El-Mahalla El-Kubra (Arabic: المحلة الكبرى) is one of the most important and largest cities in Egypt, famous for its textile industry and located in the middle of the delta. Population estimated 462,500 inhabitants.

It has one of the biggest local textile companies, the Misr for Weaving & Spinning in Mahalla El Kubra in Talaat Harb Street.

The city is also famous for its football team of Ghazl Al-Mehalla which is one of the prominent teams in Egypt. The team was established in 1932 as workers in the spinning factory used to play football on their free times. Later the team won the Egyptian Premier League in 1973.
