Ejby municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Funen County on the north and west coasts of the island of Funen in southern Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Brandsø, and covers an area of 163 km², and has a total population of 10,046 (2005). Its mayor is Claus Hansen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. Hansen has been mayor since 1994.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Ejby.
Neighboring municipalities are Assens, Aarup, Søndersø and Bogense to the east, and Nørre Aaby to the west. To the north are the waters of Båring Cove (Båring Vig) and beyond that the Kattegat. To the southwest are the waters of Tybrind Cove (Tybrind Vig) and beyond that the Little Belt. The island of Brandsø lies off the municipality's southwest cost.
The municipality was created in 1970 due to a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that combined a number of existing parishes:
- Balslev Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Brenderup Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Ejby Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Fjelsted Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Gelsted Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Harndrup Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Husby Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Ingslev Sogn (Vends Herred)
- Tanderup Sogn (Båg Herred)
- Ørslev Sogn (Vends Herred)
By January 1, 2007 Ejby municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be combined with existing Middelfart and Nørre Aaby municipalities to form an enlarged Middelfart municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 297 km² and a total population of 36,113 (2005). The municipality will belong to the new Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region").
