Eilert Pilarm
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eilert Dahlberg (born April 4, 1953), who uses the stage name Eilert Pilarm is a Swedish Elvis impersonator whose fame (such as it is) stems from his striking lack of resemblance to Elvis Presley, both vocally and physically, and his shaky command of the English language in which he sings.
Worthy of mention is that Eilert suffers from a light schizophrenia and he actually thought himself a reincarnation of Elvis or Elvis himself[citation needed]. Nowadays his mental health has improved and he has come in to another level of understanding of his past behaviour.
In Sweden, he is mainly regarded as a jester with a humorous twist and he has become loved for his outrageous interpretations of Elvis. However, other Swedes with less humour are ashamed over his international "success".
He self-released several cassettes, before his debut CD Greatest Hits was released in 1996 on MCA. Eilert is Back! followed in 1998 and Live In Stockholm appeared in 2000.
Pilarm is one of several musicians featured in Irwin Chusid's book Songs In The Key Of Z, which focuses on outsider music.
