Ehmetjan Qasimi

Ehmetjan Qasimi (also transliterated as Ahmetjan Khasim or Ahmetcan Kasimi) was a political leader of the Second East Turkestan Republic, which existed from November 12, 1944 to October 1, 1949.
In August 1949 Ehmetjan Qasimi [President of the ETR, Uyghur], Abdulkerim Abbas [Minister of Foreign Affairs, Uyghur], Ishaq Beg Munonov [General-Lieutenant, Chief of National Army, Kyrgyz], Dalelkhan Sugirbayev [General-Major, Vice-Chief of National Army, Kazakh], Rakhimjan Sabirhajiev [Minister of Internal Affairs, Uyghur] and Luo Zhi boarded a plane in Alma-ata, former capital of Kazakhstan headed for Beijing. On September 3, the Soviet Union informed the Chinese government that the plane had crashed killing all on-board. After collapsing of Soviet Union in 1991 some former KGB leaders revealed information that five top ETR leaders were killed by Stalin in Moscow late August, 1949, according to his dealing with China's communist leader Mao Zedong.
Not long before his death Ehmetjan Qasimi declared: " Sinkiang certainly should become Uyghurstan - it's a desire not only of uyghurs, but the all inhabitants and nationalities that live in Eastern Turkestan".
