Egosoft

Egosoft is a game company based in Würselen, Germany.
Their most famous games are the X space simulator game series; X: Beyond the Frontier, its expansion pack X-Tension and the sequel X2: The Threat. Released in 2005 is a continuation of the series, X3: Reunion. These games are based within the X Universe.

As of 2005 Egosoft has released the following products:
- Flies Attack on Earth (1993) for Amiga and PC (MS-DOS).
- Imperium Romanum (1996) for PC (MS-DOS).
- X: Beyond the Frontier (1999) for PC (Windows).
- X-Tension (2000) for PC (Windows and Linux) - X: Beyond the Frontier expansion pack.
- X-Gold (2001) for PC (Windows) - an amalgamated X: Beyond the Frontier/X-Tension release.
- X2: The Threat (2003) for PC (Windows and Linux(2006)).
- X3: Reunion (2005) for PC (Windows).
The Linux versions of the X Series were developed by Linux Game Publishing

An Online version of the X universe is Egosoft's ultimate goal. It is thought the singleplayer games are a way for Egosoft to finance a massively multiplayer online game similar to EVE online. The 'X online' project as it is called, site can be found here: X Online

Egosoft has attracted a community of over 221,000 members on their websites forum. Members can post questions, guides, and experiences about the games, as well as use the Scripting and Modding forum to share their game modifications. The forums are aimed at users 13 years old and over.
