Ego deus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ego Deus is a religious movement, founded in Prague in the late 1890s. Artist, Philosopher and Occultist Niels Morgensen (known in the Order as Prpht. Kronigen von Affa) first received the sacred doctrines of Ego Deus in a trance, using an process called automatic writing to record them. These first scriptures were written in the sacred and mystical language of Ego Deus, Linguae Luna. Egodeans believe these messages came from five creator Deities, representations (or archetypeal forms) of the five separate principles of the Higher Self, which itself is the one true God; hence 'Ego Deus', or 'God Self'
The Order spread across Europe over the next hundred years, but rarely had more than 500 or so members at any one time. These have included many famous novelists, poets and painters, who have alluded to Ego Deus beliefs and world picture in subtle forms through their work.
It is important to note that while the Outer Order of Ego Deus can be traced back to the 1890s, members believe that they are following in a much older tradition; their five deities (Geist, Jathuri, Bazal, Acheron and Nimrod) all have many connotations and associations with the gods from Christian, Pagan, Hindu, Norse, and other religious systems. Therefore, while this system of worship may be relatively new, they are in fact celebrating god-like entities whose wisdom and powers predate all of these above-mention faiths. These five beings are understood more in the sense of Jungian Archetypes of powerful aspects of the Self, than as material and literal manifestations.
Since the internet revolution Ego Deus has grown considerably in size, and its positive outlooks and 'law' (referred to as the 'Hexen Law') seem to have captivated the imagination of a new generation.

[edit] The Central Truths
[edit] Hexen Law
Hexen Law is not a system of Laws in the political sense, but Laws in the scientific sense. Adherence of these Laws is not obligatory and no punishments will bechance should you break one of them. However, any deviation will be met with equal and opposite reaction, knocking you back into place. Nothing can break or suppress these rules for long.
1. Yours Is Not Judgment To Pass, or Vengeance To Take. The fates are cruel when needs be, but they also reward. Greater powers lead and govern us, and it is no human being's place to try and wield that force. Power over life and death is too much for human hearts, and would cripple the soul under its weight.
2. Senses Lie, Only The Mind Is God. Remember that nothing you see, hear, smell, touch or taste is ever any more than the coded signal by which your chemical mind knows it. Do not always believe appearances, and seek the truth behind illusions.
3. Always Act From Love, And Never From Fear. Think before you speak, take counsel before acting. Always be careful to analyze your own actions and motivations, making sure you act from a desire for the well-being of all, and never from selfishness, petty vengeance or Fear.
4. All Are Equal, All Are One. We are all the same matter, formed in one image. We all have the same basic needs and desires. All that changes is the personal challenges that lie in our road; Look to your own strengths and weaknesses, and recognize your kinship with all beings.
5. All Property Is Theft. Every living being is the ruler of their own personal space. The place where you lay your head in rest is yours. None may take this from you, nor levy fees on you for using it. Humans will not be born into slavery; comfort of life is a greater Law than beurocracy and contracts. (Incidentally, most global governments are already breaking this rule.)
6. Energy Can Be Transferred Or Transformed, But Never Destroyed Or Lost. Newton's Laws and the Wiccan 'Rule of Three' both state this, from different perspectives. If you radiate anger and cruelty, the emotive energy is not lost, and you will receive it back to you before long. Those who deal out kindness will find it in others.
[edit] The Hexen Eye
The Hexen Eye is the main emblem of The Order of Ego Deus.
The six arms represent the Hexen Law, the code of conduct upheld by members of Ego Deus. Many find this image similar to the Buddhist swastika, later adopted by Adolf Hitler's Nazi party. The symbol originally represented a cycle, as suggested by the windmilling arms. That cycle is sometimes taken to stand for seasons and crops, earning the symbol associations with fertility. On a macrocosmic level, these cycles are those of death and rebirth, the circular path of reincarnation, and the 'solve et coagula' of Alchemical processes. Any association with Fascism only stands to reinforce the Ego Deus principle of 'Love and Fear'; that 'good' and 'evil' are not separate entities, but rather opposing forces acting on the same beings or ideas. Nothing is above corruption, hence remembering the six laws, which lead us not into temptation.
The eye in the middle of the design is that of the hawk-headed Egyptian God, Horus. It represents knowledge and wisdom, and Egodeans see it as an emblem for their own personal quest, the striving of each and every person for the glory of enlightenment. They also take it to mean higher consciousness, stood within the trinity and reaching out through the Law, to feel the path to righteousness. Egodeans chose the Egyptian styling of the motif for it's relevance to the Ancient Wisdom, great teachings of the elder races of men, necessarily passed down in secrecy after the fall of the Egyptian Civilization.
The rays around the eye represent those of the Sun, or to be more precise, those of the Sun fully eclipsed by the Moon; The Crowning Of The Black Star, or Silver cooked in the alembic of Gold. The chief colors of red and white stand for the Alchemical male and female principles, or Sulfur and Mercury.
Finally, the banner (itself in the style of a family crest) is a Dutch slogan, translating as 'strength through unity'; again, this holds true on many levels. Egodeans perceive Ego Deus as a family, believing that members should always treat each other with the same honesty, love and decency they would reserve for a brother or sister. Egodeans take to appreaciating the efforts of each other and treating one another in kind.
On a divine level (and at the defining point of the Mobius Strip, where infinity meets the infinitesimal and comes full circle) this unity is also within the Self. Egodeans seek to unite the factions of spirit and soul to find inner balance and unite the elements of personality.
