Edythe Wright

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edythe "Dee Dee" Wright (born May 14, 1907 in Bayonne, New Jersey; died October 28, 1965) was a singer best known for her work with Tommy Dorsey. She worked in Dorsey's orchestra from 1935 to autumn of 1939. In 1937 she did one of the earlier recordings of The Lady Is a Tramp and in 1939 she wrote a few columns for Bandstand magazine. She is said to have had a "fiery temperament" and left the group late in 1939.

Her life outside of her work with Dorsey is not well-known, but she apparently kept in contact with members of Dorsey's orchestra as she knew Frank Sinatra. She died in 1965.
