Sir Edward Trevor (c. 1580 - 1642) was the founder of the fortunes of the Trevor dynasty, a major family of Denbighshire.
While on military service in Ireland, Edward Trevor married into a landed family and thus acquired the Rostrevor estate in County Down. He was knighted in 1617, and built the mansion of Brynkynallt on his estates at Chirk in 1619. In 1634 he was MP for Newtown, Montgomeryshire. In 1641 he was captured and imprisoned by Irish rebels, and he died in captivity.
