Edward Saganami is a historical fictional character in the Honorverse.

Commodore Saganami was the most outstanding fighting officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy in the 36th century. He commanded the first battlecruiser named HMS Nike, and died defending a convoy against a far superior enemy force of Silesian pirates funded by Mesan slave traders.

Commodore Saganami posthumously received the first Parliamentary Medal of Valor for his actions. When the Star Kingdom of Manticore set aside an island to house the Royal Manticoran Navy Academy, they named it Saganami Island in his honor. The advanced Edward Saganami class of heavy cruisers designed and built starting just before the first war with Haven were also named for him.

Due to the valiant and heroic actions of Commodore Saganami and the HMS Nike, the name of Nike was entered in the Royal Manticoran Navy List of Honor, ensuring that there will forever be a commisioned warship named Nike.
