Edward Quartermaine

Edward Quartermaine is a fictional character on the long-running American daytime serial General Hospital. The character was created in 1978, originally played by David Lewis for many years. As of 2006, the role is currently played by John Ingle.[1]

Edward is considered to be one of the wealthiest individuals in the fictional town of Port Charles, New York. He is the CEO and principal shareholder of "E.L.Q Enterprises". Many of his storylines involve health concerns, such as multiple heart attacks, a bout of amnesia in 1989, a stroke and faked coma, and a time in 2004 when his daughter Tracy had him committed to the Shadybrook Sanitarium, though he later escaped with the assistance of Luke Spencer.

  • Sold Skye Chandler at birth and arranged for her parents to think she had died
  • Faked a heart-attack as a test of loyalty for Tracy
  • Arrested for the murder of Bradley Ward; innocent and later acquitted
  • Tried to kidnap his great-grandson, Michael Corinthos III.
  • Faked his own mugging to try and keep Emily away from Zander
  • Coerced Skye into a contract in which she agreed to help him ruin Jasper Jacks
  • Faked a heart attack and then pulled his own respirator plug to make it look like Skye had tried to kill him
  • Plotted to take baby Kristina away from Ned and Alexis Davis
  • Criminal Negligence; refused to shut down the Port Charles Hotel, even after a security technician informed him that the hotel's electrical system was hazardous
  • Pretended to be senile to prevent his family from being affected by lawsuits following the P.C. Hotel fire
  • Impersonating a nun, he escaped General Hospital with the help of Luke Spencer and Skye
