Edward Goff Penny

Edward Goff Penny (15 May 182011 October 1881) was an English-Canadian journalist, businessman, and politician.

Born in Islington (now part of London), England, Penny moved to Canada in 1844 settling in Montreal and joined the Montreal Herald as a reporter. He would become editor-in-chief and a co-owner of the newspaper. In 1874, he was appointed to the Senate of Canada representing the senatorial division of Alma, Quebec. He died in office in 1881.
