Template:Editprotected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This template adds a page to Category:Wikipedia protected edit requests. It is a self-reference and so is part of the Wikipedia project rather than the encyclopedic content.
Usage
{{Editprotected}} is to be typed on a talk page to request an edit of a protected page. It should be accompanied by a clear and specific description of the requested change. Providing the new sentences or code in your request, if possible, will expedite the process.
Controversial requests, such as edits that are not in line with Wikipedia policy, and / or community consensus, may be refused.
The talk page on which the request is placed is automatically categorised into Category:Wikipedia protected edit requests. Administrators will check this category for protected edit requests to process. For faster service, consider additionally posting a request at WP:RPP.
This template is useful to edit pages that are "permanently" protected.
Recommended action upon resolution
Once a request is handled, it's best to leave the{{editprotected}}
tag as an un-transcluded tag, for example, by changing it to: {{tl|editprotected}}
. This removes the message box from the talk page and removes the talk page from the category, while still leaving a record of the request.
