Edisto Island is an island on the coast of southern South Carolina, USA. Most of the area of the island lies in Charleston County, South Carolina, but a small part of it is in Colleton County, where the island's only town is located. The island has a total land area of 193.37 km² (74.66 sq mi) and a total population (2000 census) of 2,301 residents, of whom 1,559 live in Charleston County and 742 in Colleton County, most of the latter in the town of Edisto Beach. However, almost 91 percent of the land area is in the Charleston County portion.
