[edit] Origins

The Edinburgh Wolves were formed in 2002 by a group of seven people, the Wolves grew rapidly as an organisation and adopted the name the Wolves from the local Flag Football team that had provided many of the initial team membership. The Flag team was absorbed into the organisation at the same time.

Starting from the original seven people who met in The Crags Bar in Edinburgh the club quickly expanded and were accepted into the British Senior League of American Football in November of 2002.

[edit] Expansion

Since their entry into the senior British American football competition, the Wolves have competed in the 2nd Division of the British Senior league - now simply renamed to British American Football League (BAFL). In November 2003 the Wolves launched a university team who were accepted into the Collegite league in the UK (BCAFL) for the 2004/2005 season. In 2005 they launched the Edinburgh Wolves Youth team who were accepted into the British Youth American Football Association in May 2005.

[edit] Organisational structure

Led by Douglas Adamson (General Manager) the Wolves management team have been able to "birth" a new aspect to their organisation at the rate of one per year.

The Wolves have a unique set up with a General Manager (Adamson) in charge of the non playing side of the organisation and a Head Coach Don Edminson handling coaching and players.

The Wolves train at Jack Kane Centre in Edinburgh on Sunday from 12:30pm. Their home games from 2007 will be played at meadowbank stadium.

There are 3 playing strands of the club Senior Team (BAFL) Ages 18+ - Head Coach T.B.C. Youth Team (BYAFA) Ages 14-18 - Head Coach Douglas Adamson University Team (BCAFL) Students - Head Coach T.B.C.

The 3 teams have a continuous recruitment policy and welcome new players all year round. They also offer training to non players and have a game day staff crew which also recruits year round.

The Wolves are a non-profit organisation and no members of the staff or players receive payments. However as with many teams in the United Kingdom all of the Wolves Players are expected to make financial contributions to ensure the team continues. As yet the has been no sponsorship arranged to lift this financial burden.
