Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District

The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is a school district headquartered in the city of Edinburg, Texas, United States.

The district has approximately 3,900 employees including 2,082 certified professionals and over 900 paraprofessionals.

As for students, the peak enrollment for the 2005/2006 school year was 27,424, and the district continues to grow at a rate of approximately 5% annually.

The acting superintendent is Gilberto Garza, Jr. Former superintendent J.L. Salinas and ECISD reached an agreement in November 2006, removing him amid allegations of nepotism.

The district emcompasses 945 square miles of land extending north of the city to the end of Hidalgo County. Almost all of the city of Edinburg is served by ECISD.

In addition, small portions of the city of McAllen and several unincorporated Hidalgo County communities are served by ECISD.
