Edgardo B. Maranan

Edgardo B. Maranan, Filipino poet-fictionist-essayist-playwright, was inducted in the Palanca Hall of Fame in the year 2000, a distinction he shares only with 18 other Filipino writers. He is an accomplished playwright and fiction writer in Filipino while he writes excellent poetry in both English and Filipino. He has represented the Philippines in a number of literary international congresses and has won many awards from Palanca, CCP, Focus Philippines, and PBBY. He is a professor of Philippine Studies at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines. Among his many published works include Hometown Stories and Footnotes to Childhood's End (essay), The Jink, the Dolphin, and the Deep Sea Mystery (short story), The Fifth Element (short story), Hinterland (poetry), Star Maps and Other Poems (poetry), Palawan: Tales of Poverty, Poetry and Time Travel (essay), Island and Hinterland (essay) and Cogon (short story).
