Edappadi is a city and a municipality in Salem district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Edappadi was once known for its thriving powerloom industry. But after 1991 the industry started to decline and now very few survived supporting good number of people. The economy is diversified. The main modes of income are agriculture, textile powerloom, entertainment and foundry.

Edappadi has a variable terrain. Sankagiri - Edappadi route is rocky. River Cauvery is 6 kms away from edappadi.

The climate in Edappadi is very hot in summer and mildly cooler climate in winter. The monsoon rain starts around October to November. May, June will be windy and summer raining season starts.

Vanniyar community peoples are living more than 70% percent, followed by gounders,bhakthars.
