Artist and writer Ed Gauthier (aka Mr. Edweirdo) was born in Canada, after his grandfather moved the family from France, where they had lived for many generations. Moved to the US and where he later attended California State University at Long Beach.
He was co-founder, main songwriter and harmonica player of the 1980s Los Angeles area blues-rock band Roadhouse, and does occasional performance art.
Gauthier is also a painter, cartoonist, writer and editor. His books of poetry include Taste and Tradition, Style and Substance, and Manners and Motives.
More recently, he created the internet parody features Mr. Edweirdo, and Fanatical Funnies, poking fun at the genre of online cartoon strips.
Currently resides in the Central Coast area of California.
