Edward T. McCaffrey (born August 17, 1968 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania) is a former American football wide receiver who played for the New York Giants (1991-1993), San Francisco 49ers (1994) and the Denver Broncos (1995-2003) of the National Football League.

McCaffrey played high school football at Allentown Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he competed in the East Penn Conference (now known as the Lehigh Valley Conference) in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, one of the nation's elite high school football leagues.

He was recruited by Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and, in 1991, was named an All-American. At Stanford, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

McCaffrey was drafted by the New York Giants out of Stanford in the third round, with the 83rd overall selection, in the 1991 NFL Draft. During his thirteen year career, he won three Super Bowl rings (in Super Bowl XXIX, Super Bowl XXXII and Super Bowl XXXIII) and made a Pro Bowl appearance in 1998. At Denver, he became a reliable target for hall of fame quarterback John Elway. He set a Broncos record for most receptions in a season (with 101 receptions in 2000), and had an exceptional performance in Super Bowl XXXIII, recording 5 catches for 72 yards. Also in 2000, McCaffrey and teammate Rod Smith (100 catches) became only the second WR duo from the same team to each gain 100 receptions in the same season (see Herman Moore and Brett Perriman).

On September 10, 2001, McCaffrey suffered a compound leg fracture while playing a Monday Night Football game with the Broncos. It should be noted that on the play he made a spectacular catch and did not fumble the ball as his leg was being broken. He rebounded in the 2002 season with 69 receptions and 903 yards, but, hampered by injuries, retired after a disappointing 2003 season. McCaffrey finished his career with 565 career receptions for 7,422 yards and 55 touchdowns.

McCaffrey is the older brother of former college basketball scoring star Billy McCaffrey.
