Ed Good, Rocko Bad/Teed Off was the third episode of the fourth season of the Animated Television series Rocko's Modern Life.

[edit] Ed Good, Rocko Bad

Rocko and Mr. Bighead run against each other for the office of Dog Catcher. Ed goes to the Chameleon Bros. for an image makeover by giving him fake broad shoulders and an Elvis-like toupee. Ed's campaign based on good looks is a successful one (as well as villainizing Rocko with the slogan, "Ed Good, Rocko Bad!") while Rocko, running on moral character and values, gets no support except from his friends Heffer and Filbert. In the end as expected, Ed wins the election by a landslide (even Heffer voted for him due to his "shoulders" which explains why Rocko only received two votes). Even though Rocko lost the election he turns out to be the "real" winner since the pound has now turned into a rehab center/amusement park for dogs thanks to a "Doggie Humanity Bill" passed by the voters and the position of dog catcher reduced to nothing more than a glorified pooper-scooper; which is what Ed becomes.

[edit] Teed Off

At Conglom-O, Mr. Noeway invites Ed for a game of golf against Mr. Dupette on the promise that he would be promoted if he lets Dupette win as usual. Earlier in the day, a team of groundskeepers of which Heffer is apart of, prepare for the game while Heff basically goofs off and creates alien signs a la Signs. Later that day, Ed and Mr. Dupette begin their game. Dupette sinks every shot while Ed deliberately misfires and pianos are shot into his balls much to the boredom of the announcers. Everything goes according to plan thanks to Noeway and the team of Conglom-O groundskeepers. Heff sees that Conglom-O is cheating and decides to aid Ed in winning the game. He goes in and drops balls in the holes in which no one sees him doing this (the announcers are excited because this was now a competitive game rather than the usual Dupette sweep). Heff's presence and actions confound the plans of Noeway and the groundskeeping team and gets furious with Ed for sinking shots (Dupette is seemingly ignorant of the fact that his yesmen are cheating for him to win). On the 18th hole, Ed sends the ball into the water and Noeway's mission seemed successful until Heff saves the ball and flies on a propeller powered lawnmower and drops the ball in the hole admist the barrage of pianos that were fired against him from all fronts including from a sattelite. As a result, Ed wins the game. Heff is then hit and divebombs into the groundskeeping team's tree headquarters. Dupette congraduates Ed on winning the game and walks back to his copter leaving Ed sort of dissappointed about not getting a promotion. An irate Noeway insanely bashes Ed with the bag of golfclubs. Later that night, two aliens see the Heffer-made signs and are confused and upset.

[edit] Trivia

  • First appearance of Mr. Noeaway.
  • Rocko appears for only three seconds in Teed Off where he he is shown screaming among the screaming montage when Heffer crashes.
  • There are a few references made to Star Wars in this episode:

-The chief groundskeeper resembling and making heavy breathing sounds like Darth Vader.

-The command room resembles the bridge of The Executor in The Empire Strikes Back complete with guards in white uniforms resembling Stormtroopers.

-When the head groundskeeper gets angry at Mr. Noeaway, it seems like he is mentally choking him much like Vader did with The Force.

-When Heffer flies over the golf course he shouts "Woo-hoo!" as he drops the ball in the hole like many pilots in Star Wars do.

-Heffer crashing into the command center just like the A-Wing pilot did in Return of the Jedi.
