Ecthelion I

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ecthelion is, in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth, the seventeenth Ruling Steward of Gondor. He succeeded his father Orodreth at his death in T.A. 2685. He ruled Gondor for only thirteen years ere his death.

The most notable event during his time was the rebuilding of the White Tower in Minas Tirith. In his honour it later became known as the White Tower of Ecthelion.

Ecthelion had no children and, upon his death in 2698, Egalmoth, grandson of Orodreth's sister Morwen, succeeded him as Steward.
