The school of computer engineering has been the forefront of research and technology for 60 Years, since it was founded by Professor Eric Zepler in 1947, the worlds 1st department of electronics. Since then every decade of the schools history has been marketed by inventions, applications, and developments of real and enduring significance which laid down the generations of researchers in Southampton and beyond. Today there are around 500 researchers in the school (staff and postgraduate students), whose work will also shape the future and also whose research carries forward the value of intellectual rigour, curiosity, and social responsibility which inspired Zepler and his collaborators.
