There were many sentences that didn't make any sense before I edited, some I deleted because they seemed to lack any meaning. If anyone finds that I have deleted someting important, please explain to me the meaning of those sentences. BrorMartin 13:57, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Added a source that apparently was used for writing this article in the first place. However it is likely heavily biased. I am quite sure this article is way too positive about the economic condition of Montenegro.BrorMartin 19:39, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestions for improving the article
This is an important topic as there exists very little information on the economy of CG readily available elsewhere on the net (or other public sources for that matter).
Unfortunately, this is still a pretty bad article. I would suggest starting out with the basics on the economy today. eg stating the GDP, GDP per capita, currency arrangement, inflation level, growth rates, etc. Would go on to discuss the makeup of the economy (including role of aluminium works and tourism in the economy), intl. trade agreements, taxes, status of privatization and economic reforms and liberalization. Might also want to add something about the ongoing problems with smuggling and money laundering. Only then do I think it is warranted to go into the economic history of CG.Osli73 10:08, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Not an easy article to create
I am aware of all the insufficiencies of this article, but it was a start. I live in Podgorica all my life, and you can't imagine how difficult it is to find reliable GDP data, unemployment rates, and other economic indicators, as all those are usually found for Serbia and Montenegro together. I managed to find data for 2005 from 5-6 souces, but they all vary drastically! Then I decided to put at least an overview and history, and I did so by merging the revised www.montenet.org economy article with some of my own text. I found this working paper [1] from CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) on the economy of CG. It seems quite extensive and should be useful. Only problem is it's rather old (2000). However, I remember CEPS as a very serious and authoritative source from my studies in European politics. Good luck!Osli73 20:07, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
I could also easily find data up to 2002, but in a region as dynamic as Balkans - it is not of much use. I would only post reliable data from 2005.Nije bitno... 13:59, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
With Montenegro now independent, there will be a Ministry of Finance in CG or somesuch that will publish CG-specific data, so they can be a source. -Fsotrain09 22:05, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
