text for new page
Put your text for the new page here. "Colonised people are not simply those whose labour has been appropriated but those whose soul dwells an inferiority complex created by the death and burial of its local cutural originality" How true is this statement?
Clarification : In the last para a line says "... organisations like GE, BA, etc. ...", what does BA stand for ?

Lesbination (What the hell?)
There is a random story in the middle of this section on the economy reading as such: "Once upon a time, there lived a man who had a terrible passion for baked beans. He loved them, but they always had an embarrassing and somewhat lively reaction on him. One day he met a girl and fell in love. When it became apparent that they would marry, he thought to himself, she'll never go through with the marriage with me carrying on like this, so he made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.
Shortly after that they were married. A few months later, on his birthday and on the way home from work, his car broke down. Since they lived in the country, he called his wife and told her that he would be late because he had to walk home. On his way home, he passed a small cafe and the wonderful aroma of baked beans overwhelmed him. Since he still had several miles to walk he figured he could walk off any ill affects before he got home. It was, after all, his birthday. So he went in and ordered, and before leaving had 3 extra large helpings of baked beans.
All the way home he putt-putted. By the time he arrived home he felt reasonably safe. His wife met him at the door and seemed somewhat excited. She exclaimed, "Darling, I have the most wonderful surprise for you for dinner tonight!" She put a blindfold on him, and led him to his chair at the head of the table and made him promise not to peak. At this point he was beginning to feel another one"
I have erased this, but I am wondering what exactly this section is about.--RNJBOND 08:09, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)
Rewrite
I plan to do a rewrite of this article, since it is too short for such a vast topic and a good rewrite should make it a feature article candidate. I have put my ideas on Talk:Economy_of_India/Template_for_Rewrite. Please feel free to add/edit & discuss the template and/or collaborate on the rewrite. pamri 16:56, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Economy and energy
I think something about energy subsidies and their importance to agriculture would be relevant in this article. See the quote below. "International organisations like the World Bank and International Monetary Fund have often criticised India for giving free electricity to farmers." [1]
Featured Article
I was hoping this article could be done up on the lines of Economy of Africa and Economy of Ireland, both FAs. I hope someone volunteers to undertake this task. I'll help anyone who takes the lead. =Nichalp «Talk»= June 29, 2005 18:53 (UTC)
- I had started work on Economy of India/temp a looooo..ong time ago, but could not complete it due to some other commitments. Anyways, I am relatively free now and hope to finish this off. My current plan is to take up each section in
Economy of India/temp and work on it, rather than work in a haphazard manner, so we can have 4 FA's instead of 1. I have started work on Economic history of India, which by itself contains atleast 3 FA's within itself and hopefully should try to finish it by the next week. It would be great, if someone starts work on Post-Independence & Pre-Liberalization history and later sections, while I try to finish the pre-colonial & colonial periods. We can probably have a COTW exclusively for the economy of india series every week so we can finish it off quickly. pamri June 30, 2005 03:14 (UTC)
- I am currently undertaking a task to feature main articles listed off the India page such as History of India, Economy of India etc. The Geography of India reached featured status recently, Indian Railways this week and Flag of India soon to follow. I hope you can get the articles to FA status as early as possible. My knowledge in this department is poor, so I can help in only limited areas. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= June 30, 2005 07:08 (UTC)
- In that case, we can do this first and then proceed to the other articles. I will create a rough draft in a day or two, while you can drum up support (Since this isn't a stub, it can't qualify for a INCOTW, right?). pamri June 30, 2005 16:27 (UTC)

- You can nominate the Economy of India. Our ultimate goal to to get India-related FA. So even if it is a half-baked article, ill elevate it if it has a fair number of votes. But expect it to be the INCOTW only after a fortnight since the History of India will take some time doing. I'm sure Sundar, Kaal and a few others can join in. I can make you some graphs and charts, and add some text if you need. You take the lead, I'll support you. =Nichalp «Talk»= July 1, 2005 07:45 (UTC)

- Thanks. That gives me some time to make the Economic_history_of_India more complete & complementary. I will put up some raw data that can be put up as maps & charts. pamri July 1, 2005 08:10 (UTC)
BTW please don't use the temp page of the main article. ie Economy of India/temp is frowned upon. You can make it under user:pamri/temp if you want exclusive use. I've got a helpful link: [2]. I'll keep posting links here when I find something useful. You may want to make use of it. =Nichalp «Talk»= July 1, 2005 09:06 (UTC)
- Is Talk:Economic of India/temp too frowned upon? By the way, you guys have done an excellent work on Flag of India. -- Sundar \talk \contribs July 1, 2005 09:11 (UTC)
- That's allowed. =Nichalp «Talk»= July 1, 2005 09:18 (UTC)
- Anyways, moved to User:Pamri/Economy of India. If you want it to move somewhere else, please do that. Will carry out edits in the main article once I complete a reasonable draft, since the current article is decent enough. pamri July 1, 2005 09:24 (UTC)
- Yet another move to Talk:Economy of India/temp, since I have pinged some people to contribute. Feel free to edit. (hehe..copied title with typo from Sundar....and had to move again.:-D)pamri July 1, 2005 14:31 (UTC)
