Ecology Flag (Australian)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ecology flag (ECO flag) is a symbol for cultural and environmental change originated in the late 1990s when environmental activists (Eco warriors) campaigned against a gold mine at Timbarra Plateau, near Nimbin Australia.
[edit] Description
At the center of the flag, three logs lashed together are displayed representing the structure used by Eco Warriors to halt road access to areas of high ecological value. The tripod symbolizes the three principles for cultural change:
- Respect nature
- Respect humanity
- Non violence
It has four colors: red, yellow, black and green. The first three are those of the indigenous Australians flag, in recognition of all indigenous cultures worldwide. Green represents nature and the environmental movement.
