Talk:Ecgfrith of Northumbria
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I notice a few references to his defeat at the Battle Of Dunnichen as "disastrous". Does this fit with the neutral point of view that wikipedia entires should adhere to? Disastrous from Ecgfrith's point of view, certainly, but not from all perspectives. Lianachan 08:46, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, yes, it certainly wasn't disastrous from the POV of the Picts. But I think the wording/context makes it fairly clear that it means disastrous in terms of Northumbrian power...if you can think of a way to improve the wording to make it more clear, feel free. - I'm considering an extensive edit for the Battle Of Dunnichen (in here as the Battle Of Nechtansmere) in my sandbox, with considerably more information about the circumstances before and after the battle (as well as the battle itself). Subject to peer review, my concerns with this entry would be addressed for anybody who links to Dunnichen. Lianachan 09:10, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

wrt Dunnichen - the article talks of "mountain fastnesses"... clearly written by someone who has never been to Dunnichen in the lush fertile undulating lowlands of Angus.
