Talk:Eastern Nagari script
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
We need the charts of consonants and vowels and diacritics for this page, but I didn't want to just copy-paste the ones from the Assamese script and Bengali script pages, as they are language-specific (in terms of IPA pronunciation, name, etc.). Can we have a chart (I don't know how to make these) that just has the letters without the pronunciation... or maybe a chart with ALL the pronunciations (Bengali, Assamese, etc.) included? I don't want this to be too Bengali-biased. --SameerKhan 22:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- In this article, we can include a table with all the symbols while indicating what is used in Bengali, Assamese or Manipuri in seperate columns as shown in the following sample:
-
Consonant Table Symbol Bengali Assamese Manipuri ক kô kô kô র rô - rô ৰ - rô - স sô xô / sô * sô ৱ - wô wô
- '* when combined with other consonents.
- Additionally, I think we need to clean-up this page along with Bengali Script and Assamese Script pages so that topics are not repeated. This page should deal in a more generalized discussions of the script, developmental history and combined phonology as shown in the above table. The other two language specific pages should deal with the use of the script in that language. For example, there is no point of writing about Buranjis or Bhakti Poems of Sankardev under Bengali Script. - Bikram98 05:20, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Alphabet Table
Let us first prepare the list of the scripts here, once finished, we can put it in the article-page.
- Also, we should probably mention that the three scripts are the modern standards, in current use. Chaipau 18:58, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

- Same with Bengali. No need for those accent marks. --SameerKhan 12:38, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Who can help us in the Manipuri part? Also, is these enough? Or, we can also include the name of the aphabets (as they are currently in the respective language pages)? - Bikram98 20:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- User:Usingha is probably the only Bishnupriya/Manipuri speaking wikipedian ... he can help in this. --Ragib 06:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
