Talk:Eastern Catholic Community in Hawaii
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Saint Sophia Eastern Catholic Mission is the only community of Eastern Catholics within the state of Hawaii. The parish is located on the island of Oahu and meets Sunday mornings at 10:30am for Divine Liturgy in the oratory chapel of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Kuliouou. The address of the Church is 5919 Kalanianaole Hwy. The current pastor of Saint Sophia is a bi-ritual priest, the Reverend Halbert Weidner, C.O. While officially a Ukrainian Greek Catholic mission of the Eparchy of Saint Nicholas, the parish is welcoming to all Eastern Catholics. Should you be vacationing or spending time on Oahu, please join us in fellowship and worship.
[edit] Wikilinks
This page used to have a number of links to articles about the priests and churches associated with the community. Furthermore, this edit deleted the Diocese of Honolulu category, which I find extremely relevant, and deleted all text about the relation of this community to the diocese. Bishop Silva has some authority over this community, even if it is a deputized authority from the eparchy of St. Nicholas. Finally, last I knew it was the accepted style in articles on Hawaii to use the okina where appropriate. Could the editor justify these changes? Gimmetrow 18:24, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- This page is about Eastern Catholiocs in Hawaii – not the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu or its Bishop. Neither is it about the internal politics between Fr. Hal and the Chancery of his Roman Catholic ordinary. Those matters are their affair and have nothing whatsoever to do with us. Our ordinary is and remains Bishop Richard of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Eparchy of Saint Nicholas. We are a mission parish of that Eparchy and as such our community is Eastern Catholic and content on this page, including links, should reflect that fact. Mar Isaac 18:48, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

- I have restored the links while preserving your content as best I could. This is not about chancery politics. It is located in Hawaii and should be accessible from and link to the obvious place one would go to find info about Catholics in Hawaii. A See also link does not imply it is a part of the diocese.
