It is affiliated with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and is a member of the Lake Conference. Established in 1997, it is the newest of six high schools serving Independent School District 196.
[edit] History
In the fall of 1997, Eastview High School opened for the 1997-1998 school year. For the four years previous to 1997 the concept, name, mascot, and other aspects were developed and decided.
Throughout Eastview's ten year existence, a "family" of students and faculty has developed that strives to better the school and the atmosphere of the school. This ambition has been dubbed "the Eastview Family" and has been discussed in the 10 year anniversary commemorative video, made in 2006.
The Eastview High School marching band received 12th place at Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis, in October of 2006. Their show included the songs Speed, Strength, Honor, and Risk. They were the only finalists who hadn't ever been a finalist at BOA before.
On February 27, 2007, Dr. Richard Dewey, Eastview's principal, announced that he would retire at the conclusion of the 2006-2007 school. Dr. Dewey will most likely move on to teach graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. Many students and parents have expressed their sadness regarding his leaving and with his absence, the future of Eastview High School is unknown. Dewey will be honored at the tenth anniversary celebration on June 3, 2007.
[edit] Facilities
Eastview was designed in an "L" shape, consisting of the long sections of the "L" called the "Academic Wing," where all academically oriented classes are held. The short section of the "L" houses the band, choir, and athletics programs, as well as the Performing Arts Center (PAC.)
