Eastern Cape Technikon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eastern Cape Technikon was first established as an engineering campus of the University of Transkei in 1985. It received autonomy in 1994. In the past 10 years, this youngest higher education institution in South Africa has come of age to become a regional powerhouse of technological education. With a stable financial position, a staff of over 400 and an increasing graduation output, ECT has embraced democracy as a fundamental principle in its phenomenal growth. In 2004, almost 9 000 students registered at its four campuses. Participative management and inclusivity of stakeholder forums in decision-making have contributed to solid progress of the ECT.
The technikon is now part of Walter Sisulu University for Technology and Science.
