Like other banks of its type, EastBank, N.A. caters primarily to overseas Chinese. Patrons are able to conduct business in Chinese if they prefer or have a nessessity to do so. Likewise, patrons can expect employees to be familar with norms of etiquette in Asia. Under the banking laws of the United States, a group of community businessmen who perceived that the Chinatown area required a responsive bank to fuel the growth of local development, and to meet the needs of the community decided to organize Eastbank in 1983, and the bank has remained on concentrating on serving the local Chinese American and Asian American communities since its opening in 1984.
