East Troy (town), Wisconsin

East Troy is a town in Walworth County, Wisconsin, United States that surrounds one of the cleanest lakes in Southeastern Wisconsin, Lake Beulah.[citation needed] The town of East Troy also hosts the Lake Beulah Yacht Club (LBYC), home of some of the most competitive Opti and Scow sailors in the Midwest.[citation needed] The population was 3,830 at the 2000 census. The Village of East Troy includes the town square and lies Southeast of Lake Beulah and the town of East Troy. A small portion of the village extends into the adjacent town of Troy.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 83.2 km² (32.1 mi²). 78.6 km² (30.3 mi²) of it is land and 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²) of it (5.57%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 3,830 people, 1,427 households, and 1,104 families residing in the town. The population density was 48.7/km² (126.2/mi²). There were 1,753 housing units at an average density of 22.3/km² (57.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.36% White, 0.23% Black or African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 1.15% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,427 households out of which 32.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.0% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 17.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.01.
In the town the population was spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 104.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $61,486, and the median income for a family was $65,056. Males had a median income of $44,087 versus $25,475 for females. The per capita income for the town was $30,461. About 2.1% of families and 2.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.2% of those under age 18 and 2.6% of those age 65 or over.

- Lake Beulah Protective and Improvement Association (LBPIA) The LBPIA focuses on the general improvement and protection of Lake Beulah and the streams and waters adjacent to it and the promotion and activities tending to the general improvement and safe enjoyment of the Lake, its streams and the natural resources and habitat. The LBPIA manages water quality, weed and marine animal monitoring and management. The LBPIA is currently very focused on the potential impact of a nearby municipal high capacity well being installed by the Village of East Troy adjacent to Lake Beulah.
