East Pacific Airlines
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
East Pacific Airlines is an airline based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, People's Republic of China.
[edit] History
The airline was established in November 2002 as Jetwin Cargo Airline and intended to start operations from Shenzhen in 2005 using Boeing 737 aircraft. It is owned by Orient Holdings Group (65%) and (Hong Kong company) East Pacific Holdings (35%). [1]
Jetwin Air Cargo changed its name to East Pacific Airlines in keeping with the name of one of its major owners, the East Pacific Group. The airline would only operate domestically to begin with and is still applying for its Chinese air operator’s certificate. It plans to launch domestic passenger services in 2007 and is currently evaluating aircraft types for the passenger operation. [2]
[edit] Fleet
East Pacific Airlines has bought two Boeing 737-300 passenger aircraft from China Eastern Airlines to be converted to freighters. The aircraft were expected to be completed in time for starting freighter operations at the beginning of August 2006. [2] Pemco World Air Services has been contracted to convert four Boeing 737-300 passenger aircraft to full freighters (ie two immediate conversions and two option aircraft). [3]
