East Morrisania, Bronx
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The East Morrisania section of the Bronx encompasses the Southern Boulevard shopping district. Like its southern neighbor Longwood, it was once known as Fort Apache (thanks to the old 41st precinct). However, the name earned notoriety in the 1981 film, "Fort Apache, The Bronx." So it was renamed East Morrisania. Its boundaries are Jennings Street to its north, Prospect Avenue to its west, 163rd Street to its south, and the Bruckner Expressway and Sheridan Expressway to its east. This section of the Bronx has a dominant Puerto Rican demographic as well as an upcoming Mexican population.
