The high school, known as East Lyme High School (grades 9-12), is located in the downtown Flanders region of East Lyme, Connecticut, and the mascot is Sven the Viking. Students from the town of Salem, Connecticut in grades 9 through 12 attend high school in East Lyme (as they have no high school of their own); this will be the case until at least 2016, when the current co-op agreement between the two towns expires.
The High School's many athletic teams have consistently placed among the top in the region, capturing titles in Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Crew, Swimming, Volleyball, Cross Country, Track, Lacrosse, Tennis, Fencing, Field Hockey, Wrestling, and Marching Band.
Aside from having a strong athletic tradition, ELHS is also advanced academically as it is consistently place among top ten in the state of Connecticut. Each year, ELHS sends many gradutes to elite colleges all across America.

- Ed Toth is a professional musician currently with The Doobie Brothers, formerly with Vertical Horizon and Jennifer Culture.
- John McDonald plays professional baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays.
- Pete Walker plays professional baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays.
- Brook Fordyce is a former major league catcher who played for the New York Mets (1995), Cincinnati Reds (1996-1998), Chicago White Sox (1999-2000), Baltimore Orioles (2000-2003), and Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2004).
