East Ellsworth, Wisconsin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
East Ellsworth was created about 1 mile from the already existing city of Ellsworth, WI (the county seat of Pierce county). When the railroad line built through Ellsworth, they decided it was pointless to build tracks up the huge hill that Ellsworth is situated upon. Instead, they put the railroad depot about a mile south/east of town, and the town of East Ellsworth grew up around it.
East Ellsworth is the home of the Ellsworth Cremery, famous for their cheese curds.
The Isabelle River runs through East Ellsworth.
East Ellsworth still maintains its own zip code and post office, despite the fact that Ellsworth and East Ellsworth are now essentially one contiguous town.
The area is slowly becoming incorporated into the Twin Cities Metro Area.
