East Canonbury

East Canonbury is a residential district in the London Borough of Islington North of Central London. The Post code for East Canonbury is N1.

East Canonbury is an unknown section of Islington which lie to the East of the borough. East Canonbury borders some other districts in Islington.

East Canonbury isn't well connected to the London Underground. The area has three London Underground Station less than a mile away (0.7 miles).

Old Street tube station is nearby, the station is served by The Northern Line and Northern City Line (National Rail). Angel tube station, the station is also served by the Northern Line and is on the Bank Branch on the Northern Line The following station is King's Cross St. Pancras. Highbury & Islington tube station is also nearby, the station is served by the Victoria Line and the Northern City Line & North London Line (Both National Rail Services).

Fortunately East Canonbury is well situated for National Rail and London Buses Links.

Essex Road station is within the area and the station is served by the Northern City Line (First Capital Connect).The closest train station which is one of London's biggest is King's Cross St. Pancras. This is about 1.5 miles away (max).

East Canonbury is an expensive area to live. a 4 bedroom house would cost a minimum of £875,000 and can go up to £2 million or more. There have been many new developments in the area. in 2003 the Gainsborough Studios was complete, There are many new apartments in this development with the benefit of a gym and a co-op store. OneN1 in Southgate Road has alo been completed and penthouses have cost as much a £1 million +. Park Place also in Southgate Road has also been completed. The area would be even more expensive to live if there was a tube station which was a little close. This will happen in 2010 when Haggerston Tube Station opens on the East London Line. Although the Tube Station will be in the London Borough of Hackney, it will be a benefit the London Borough of Islington.

East Canonbury has residential Parking. The Parking Zones are IS-L, IS-T and the Border of IS-E in New North Road. Zone H] also borders zone IS-L, IS-T and IS-E however Zone H is in the London Borough of Hackney. But many people feel that the area is the London Borough of Islington, even those who actualy live in the borough of Hackney.

There has been a campaign to transfer De-Beauvoir Town to the London Borough of Islington, but this hasn't happened. It would be a good idea to transfer De-Beauvoir Town to the London Borough of Islington as the postcode is N1 same as most of Islington and it would put the house prices up a lot. It would also boost the regeneration of Dalston & Shoreditch. But it doesn't really matter as most residents of East Canonbury and De-Beauvoir feel that De-Beauvoir is in the London Borough of Islington and is under East Canonbury, people passing through think that De-Beauvoir is under the London Borough of Islington.

There are some celebrities which lived in the area. Moe Molen MP Lived in Cleveland Road, Ben Sheppard (GMTV & X Factor) Lived in Almorah Road and actors from Birds of a Feather lived in Elmore Street. Tony Blair (PM) also lived in Neighboroughing Barnsbury.
