[edit] General Information

East Bay High School is located in Gibsonton. Its location is in the center of a rapidly developing region, attracting students from Balm, Riverview, Ruskin, Wimauma, and many other neighboring towns.[citation needed]

The school is known to easily surpass its 1,700 student capacity on a regular basis. In the 2005-2006 school year, the school held around 2,300 students. Even with the opening of two new high schools--Spoto and Earl J. Lennard--in 2006, the school remains crowded at its maximum capacity of 1,700.[citation needed]

The current principal for the 2006 school year is Sharon Morris, former Assistant Principal.

[edit] Mascot, motto, and colors

The school's mascot and football team is the "Fighting Indian". The campus is adorned with many Native American-related Senior Class projects, most notably the full-sized wall paintings of the gymnasium and the statue in front of the auditorium. The logo of the school, prior to 2006, was the head of a Native American. The current logo is a spearhead with the initials "EB" within it.[1]

The school colors are crimson red and gray, with alternate colors of white and black also appearing on team shirts and signs.[1]

The school motto is "Aiming for Excellence".[1]
