Easky [Alternate spelling: Easkey] (Irish: Iascaigh) is a village in County Sligo, Ireland. Located, on the Atlantic coast, 26 miles from Sligo and 15 miles from Ballina, County Mayo. Over the past fifteen to twenty years, the village has become a popular, and highly-ranked, attraction for surfing. Traditional Irish music has been kept alive in the village by the workings of local musicians. McGowan's Pub is the central location for such efforts. Some of Easky's historic attractions include: Roslea Castle: Built in 1207 for Oliver McDonnell who came to Ireland to marry into the clan O'Dubhda (O'Dowd). The Split Rock: Actually carried to its current location by an Ice Age glacier, local legend holds that the rock was split as a result of an argument between two giants and that if one walks through the split three times, it will close.
