Early 1989 Demos refers to a series of cassette only demos by The Smashing Pumpkins which they sold at early shows in Chicago. These tracks were never widely released on any major record label, but the 1989 Demos do qualify as a very rare official release by The Smashing Pumpkins as they were sold at their early shows.

Despite the intentional spelling of "Rhinoceraus" (which changed during the Gish sessions at Smart Studios, Dec 90-Jan 91), "Stars Fallin" was a misprint; according to Corgan the intended title was "Stars Fall In."

"Daydream" and a later version of "Rhinoceros" later appeared on Gish, "Bye June" later appeared on Lull. "Honeyspider (alternate)" later appeared as "Honeyspider II" on a limited edition of the LP version of Pisces Iscariot.

[edit] Reel Time Sessions

While these two tapes were sold at the early shows, the Moon demo tape was only a portion 21 songs recorded during what has become known as the Reel Time sessions. There were two sessions. The first Reel Time sessions were in the summer of 1989. These are the following songs that were recorded during these sessions. All tracks from Moon are drawn from this set. Then in the fall of 1989 the band reconvened to record a second time. None of the tracks from the second sessions were ever commercially available. The second session is acoustic.
