Earlham is a city in Madison County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,298 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,298 people, 491 households, and 352 families residing in the city. The population density was 516.7/km² (1,336.9/mi²). There were 520 housing units at an average density of 207.0/km² (535.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.31% White, 0.15% African American, 0.08% Native American, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.62% of the population.
There were 491 households out of which 39.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.9% were married couples living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% were non-families. 24.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.11.
In the city the population was spread out with 29.5% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $42,917, and the median income for a family was $54,519. Males had a median income of $32,262 versus $24,896 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,659. About 0.9% of families and 3.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.8% of those under age 18 and 5.4% of those age 65 or over.
