Earl Talbot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The title Earl Talbot has been created twice in the Peerage of Great Britain.

The first creation, as simply Earl Talbot, was for the 2nd Baron Talbot, upon whose death the Earldom became extinct.

The second creation, as Earl Talbot, of Hensol in the County of Glamorgan, was for the 3rd Baron Talbot, who had assumed the surname Chetwynd-Talbot by Royal Licence[1]. He was also granted the subsidiary title Viscount of Ingestre, in the County of Stafford. The 3rd Earl of that creation succeeded to the Earldom of Shrewsbury in the Peerage of England (held together with the Earldom of Waterford in the Peerage of Ireland), and the three Earldoms have remained united since.
