[edit] Purpose and instructions
This is a list of articles that include information about both a film and the book (or other written work) which is the source for the film.
- Split each article into separate articles for the film and the book and fill them out if you can.
- Somewhere in the text of each article include a link to its corresponding book or film article, i.e. for the film article link to the book article and vice versa. This can be done in the opening paragraph, under "See also", or under a brief "Adaptation" sub-section.
- Add the category Category:Films based on books (or its appropriate sub-cat) to the film article.
- If the separate articles are short, please add a stub tag to them so others can fill them out.
- When you have finished splitting the articles, copy and paste this line of code anywhere in the film article: <!--Split film/book article intentional - Please do not remove this comment--> This will help the automated program that creates this list to exclude articles that are already done.
- Remember to check What links here when you're done, fix any double redirects, and remove the article from this list.
If an item on this list has already been split, please add the "Split intentional" code somewhere in the film article and remove it from this list.
If an item on this list should not be split, please put it in the False Hits section for the approprate sub list. Eagle wants to be able to fix the code and reduce false hits of this kind.
[edit] Naming conventions
- When splitting, use the book title without disambiguation, i.e. [[Foo]] and the film title with (film), i.e. [[Foo (film)]]
- When another article with the same name exists, use [[Foo (type of work)]] for the book and [[Foo (film)]] for the film.
- If there is more than one film with the same title, use [[Foo (year film)]].
- If there is more than one book with the same title and literary type, use [[Foo (author and type)]].
