E Ahamed is Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India. He is also General Secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League and hails from Kannur district in North Kerala and was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha in May 2004 for the fifth time from Ponnani in Malappuram district.

He played a key role in the release of abducted Indian truck drivers in Iraq in September 2004.
