[edit] E.Coligh
[edit] History
E. Coligh (sic) is a traveling bear from Melbourne The idea of a traveling bear is just that, it travels. Over the course of about 10 months, E.Coligh had 117 photos taken of her in 27 different locations across Melbourne and it's fringe suburbs. It is a very similar concept to the Traveling gnome prank, although this bear was rescued, not stolen. In January 2006, a small brown teddy bear was adopted from a pile of unwanted rubbish near a railway line in Werribee After being taken in by a family from North Balwyn, E.Coligh began her travels from mid Feburary 2006
[edit] Locations
E.Coligh has been all over the city of Melbourne, and beyond. Her first outing was a bike ride into the city, where her first picture was taken by the Yarra River. It was at this location that she was given the name E.Coligh, a deliberate misspelling of the shortened term for Escherichia coli, which is a bacteria found in the Yarra.
Other locations E.Coligh has visited and had her photo taken include,
- A Soccer game at the Telstra Dome
- A viewing of The World's Fastest Indian at the historic Rivoli Cinemas in Camberwell
- The top level of Myer in Bourke Street Mall
- The Royal Melbourne Show
- Out the front of the iconic Flinders Street Station
- Sitting on the front of an A Class V/Line loco at Stony Point
- Perched beside a giant Christmas Tree in the inner city
[edit] Travels Continue
In December, E.Coligh was handed over to someone else to take photos of her for 2007. She has got off to a flying start, already going further than ever before to Portland, Victoria
