DWI Extreme Series
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The name DWI Extreme Series was named based on the idea of a video game called Dance Dance Revolution Extreme and a Dance Dance Revolution simulator for computer users called Dance With Intensity.
DWI Extreme Series, founded by Terrence (ddrmax9898), was started on June 24, 2004 with a group of released simfiles for Dance With Intensity and StepMania. Although these included simfiles were created two years before the series was founded, they were considered as new simfiles and were organized into two separated series that were released at the same time. Depending on the general origins of the songs, they are placed under different categories.

[edit] The Series and the Songs
Each series, with the exception of the early series and some other certain series, contains an average of twenty simfiles from club remixes to Konami Transplants, from Dancemania to revival songs, and from long versions to dedicated series such as "Kosaka Riyu's 'begin' Series" from DWI Extreme V, "David Morales 'Club' Series" from DWI Extreme IX, and "Love To Infinity 'Love' Series" from DWI Extreme X. In general, DWI Extreme Series contains the main music genres of soul, club remixes, and trance, which brings the players to another side of non-mainstream music.
Throughout the early series, the category of "USA Regional Promo" was introduced to imitate the stepcharts from the American version of Dance Dance Revolution, and to include simfiles with singles mostly by American artists. Around the same time, the "Long Version" category was also introduced in only one series to examine its popularity.
After the release of the tenth series, DWI Extreme X, DWI Extreme Series presented "The Greatest Hits" series to dedicate its history and success over the year with a great number of fans who have enjoyed the simfiles. It contained some popular simfiles from the past, this time in remake versions, for players to experience again in a different perspective. Following that, the next series called "Glistening To Infinity" series, GTI for short, follows the current trend of a new video game called In The Groove.
The series then continued with a new set of simfile categories, a new style of naming for the series, and a new group of artists who are concentrating in the main music genres of the series.
[edit] The Simfile Creators
It was Terrence, the founder of DWI Extreme Series, who created every single simfile for the entire series until the appearance of Hayden (Tear) as a new staff member for DWI Extreme V and Mike (Blue Mystic) as a contributor for the next multiple series. Their efforts on the stepcharts and graphics has embroidered the series in a unique, exclusive style. Including as a contributor Danny (spinthedisc), the founder of another simfile series called Blue Style, has given DWI Extreme Series the permission to promote three of the greatest simfiles from Blue Style in DWI Extreme VIII, along with one "Pre-released Exclusive" simfile.
Other upcoming simfile creators such as James (Santiago22) and others, are also involved in the current series to expand the variety of stepcharts and songs. Details of these simfile creators can be found under Staff section of this website.
[edit] The Support
Since the beginning of DWI Extreme Series, it was first hosted in both websites called Bemani Fever and Rebirth Bemani for players to download, and was first promoted in other community forums to let others know about the existence of DWI Extreme Series. On December 2, 2004 DWI Extreme Series opened a community called "DWI Extreme Series LiveJournal Community" for LiveJournal and anonymous users to check the update of each upcoming series. One month before the release of a new series, the staff will release Premiere Information for the upcoming series, which is followed by a promotional period and Song Introductions for simfiles that will be included in the new series.
As DWI Extreme Series is getting more popular and well-known, some of the songs from this series were even included in a custom video game in the state of New York, and it was once considered to be used as qualifying songs in a simfile tournament. With the additional support from the fans and from other simfile creators, the series finally has its own official website, dwiextreme.com, launched on December 4, 2005.
