Shrubby cinquefoil (Dasiphora fruticosa), also known as potentilla, is so familiar to Alberta gardeners that it is almost a surprise to see it growing profusely in the wild. This hardy plant blooms from June through September, and though the wild variety is yellow, there are cultivars ranging from white through orange.
