Dutchflyer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dutchflyer is the name given to an integrated passenger service between the United Kingdom and The Netherlands. Formerly known as Amsterdam Express, Dutchflyer is a rail/sea/rail service operated jointly by Stena Line, 'one' and Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways).

The services enable passengers to purchase a single ticket allowing travel between London Liverpool Street or Norwich and Amsterdam Centraal.

Passengers board a train at Liverpool Street (or Norwich) to Harwich International, where they board a HSS ferry Stena Discovery, a catamaran to Hoek van Holland. This fast ferry will be taken out of service January 8, 2007, and be replaced by refurbished combination freight-passenger ferries (see Stena Line).

From Hoek van Holland Haven railway station, passengers may then board a train to Rotterdam, Den Haag and Amsterdam. Currently the ticket allows travel to any 'Nederlandse Spoorwegen' station in The Netherlands.

For passengers starting in the Netherlands the service is called GoLondon. It allows travel from any station in the Netherlands to Hoek van Holland Haven, and from Harwich to London Liverpool Street Station and stations in between, or Cambridge and stations in between.
