[edit] Banking

Dutch Bangla Bank is the only local bank in Bangladesh to have an automated banking system. This automation took place in 2003 whereby services of the bank were available uniformly though any branch, ATM and internet. Currently the bank is ranked #1 in the CAMEL ratings.

In several respects DBBL has set trends in the Bengali banking market. The private banking sector in Bangladesh has developed strongly in the last few years. The model, the working methods and the management of DBBL have served as an example for other institutions, such as prohibiting its shareholders from holding accounts or entering into loans with DBBL itself. FMO's guidelines in the areas of operations and corporate governance are employed to a large extent as general guidelines by DBBL

Dutch Bangla Bank recently has ventured into the realm of personal credit.

[edit] Social Work

Dutch Bangla Bank supports social work extensively and is one of the largest private donors in Bangladesh. It contributes extensively through its foundation Dutch Bangla Bank Foundation. This has been one of the biggest priority for the bank since its inception. As a result the organization has been granted numerous national and international awards for its role in the development of Bangladesh.

DBBL has introduced new forms of financial services in Bangladesh. Such as the bank's provision of loans to several hundred couriers, rickshaw drivers (bicycle taxis) and small shopkeepers, thanks to a contribution from the Small-Scale Enterprise Fund. Investment credits for local exporting companies in American dollars are another new activity, particularly beneficial for local textile and bicycle businesses. These investments provide a stimulus for the economic growth of the local private sector.

The bank donates mainly towards social awareness programs, medical and educational fields. DBBL also maintains the largest scholarship program in Bangladesh whereby college/university education tuition and expenses are fully paid for unconditionally by the bank.
