[edit] Synopsis
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
An unscrupulous peddler, after selling the executioner some rope needed for a hanging, sells a bag of “magic dust” to the condemned man’s father. The dust is nothing more than dirt, but the peddler claims that it will stop the execution. At the plot's conclusion, the man's father cries out and starts sprinkling the dust everywhere; surprisingly the noose breaks. The executioner then refuses to go along with the hanging.
